Prior to his involment in the internet he was information analyst and reference librarian for the United States Information Agency, and knowledge manager for BP. &lt;br /&gt;In 1993, for his pioneering work as cybrarian in creating one of the first virtual libraries in corporate settings, he was awared as European Special Librarian of the Year in 1993, received a special BP Information Star Prize for Innovation in IT, and was mentioned in a book on Super-searchers.
